Walk & Draw Workshop With Paul Knights & Sally Barker (16+) -part of Hebden Bridge Arts' The Man Who Planted Trees
Location: Project Colt, Elland
Sat 11 May 1.30-4.30pm
We will begin with a gentle walk local to our workshop studio, really taking notice of the environment around us. On this walk we will consider the history of the valley, and how its remarkable industrial heritage wrought profound changes that has resulted in the nature we find here today.
As we walk, we will gather inspiration from the colours and contrasts, the textures and patterns and sounds that we encounter, and we will look out for and collect natural materials to use in the workshop, thinking about how and why we find them here, and about their physical properties and how we might use these to create our artworks. You will then draw, paint and print with these materials, using them together with natural inks. You will layer your drawings with words to create your own individual artwork that has grown out of and with the environment around us. With your permission, the drawing you produce will be shared as part of our open art exhibition.
