Last Saturday, the Starlight Winter Parade lit up Halifax with a fantastic collection of festive lanterns, puppets, dancers and more! Starting at Princess Street, the procession was populated by Handmade Productions’ fabulous animal puppets; from owls and robins flapping their wings to the show-stealing polar bear and disco yeti sparkling through the streets. Amongst the arctic giants, members of the local community and our amazing volunteers carried bright stars, snow flowers and hand-operated running reindeers.
Kicking off with Katumba’s majestic drums, the parade was accompanied throughout its route by disco stilt-walkers and dancing elves grooving to the music. The cast of Peter Pan joined for a performance outside The Victoria Theatre and the surprise finale on George Street featured an extraordinary silks show inside a shimmering candle by performance group The Dream Engine.
We hope you were able to catch this unforgettable hour of festive fun and immerse yourself in Halifax’s community spirit. A massive thank you to all the volunteers, Council staff and the people of Halifax BID, CultureDale and Handmade Productions that brought it all together.
If you’re interested in volunteering at more exciting opportunities like this, fill out the form on the CultureDale website and the team will be in touch.
