CultureDale Windows of Wonder

CultureDale are looking to pair local businesses with Calderdale-based artists to create art that will bring joy to our highstreets during the last three months of our Year of Culture.

If you are a Calderdale-based business or local artist who would like to get involved, please read the below relevant sections, and email us your expression of interest answers.

For businesses:

We are looking for Calderdale-based businesses who would like to collaborate with a local artist to create a stunning window display to celebrate Calderdale’s 50^th anniversary and the final three months of our Year of Culture. The display would last from January to the end of April 2025.

To apply, please send the below information to culturedale@calderdale.gov.uk by noon on Monday 20 January 2025.

For artists:

Calling all Calderdale-based artists, would you like to work alongside a local business to create a beautiful and unique window display to delight visitors and celebrate the final three months of our Year of Culture?

Designs could be mural based or installations using sustainable or recycled materials. The selected participating Businesses will choose the artist they would like to work with.

To express an interest, artists will need to send the below information to culturedale@calderdale.gov.uk by noon on Monday 20^th January 2025.

Conditions of commission:

Businesses will be selected by a community panel and location will be a deciding factor, as a spread of projects are desired across Calderdale.

The chosen businesses will then be able to choose the artist they would like to work with based on their applications.

The artists selected for these window displays will have abudget of up to £1000 which can include their design time and materials. To celebrate the end of CultureDale and 50 years of Calderdale the design would need to be inspired by Calderdale, CultureDale and include the CultureDale logo.

The windows would need to be installed or created during February2025 and remain until the end of April 2025. A minimum of 5 Businesses will be selected to take part and the combined displays will form a trail that will be featured in Calderdale Council and CultureDale communications.

This project is funded by The Arts Council

Launch date: ASAP when social media design/wording is done

Deadline: Monday January 20^th 2025 12 noon

Installations can start in February but no later than March 2025 and need to stay in situ until the end of April 2025.
