Woven Warriors is a community tapestry and audio project, featuring weaving and stories by incredible female leaders from Calderdale and inspired by Halifax’s Doreen Pickles, mill worker and one of the country’s first female shop stewards. The tapestry continues its tour of Calderdale and aims to inspire future generations and celebrate our heritage as a hub of industry and creativity. It will be unveiled at the Central Library with an event for International Women’s Day on 8 March featuring speakers including the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire. The exhibition continues at the library throughout March before moving to Dean Clough art gallery in April.
